A belief in my job as Federal Member for Hughes

As your Federal Member in Parliament for the electorate of Hughes, it is my honour to represent over 87,000 of my fellow Australians. I have a profound belief in our federal system of Government, and I have the track record, determination and commitment to continue to achieve results for the people of the Hughes electorate.

My job is to get the best possible outcome for the people that I represent, even if this means standing up to the Government. Campaigning in Canberra brings funding to the Hughes electorate, be it in the area of better and safer roads, the environment, more care for the elderly, new child care places, Green Corps and Work for the Dole projects and support for our local schools, all to help secure your family's future.

I will strive for a better way of life for the people of Hughes, as each of you should have an equal opportunity to contribute to and share in the wealth of our nation. I believe that the very young, the aged, the invalid and the incapacitated should receive the help they need to live in comfort and dignity. I pray that Australians foster a spirit of national pride and unique Australian identity, joining together to make a better future as one people.

Family values

Together with my husband Bob, I have raised four boys who have become fine young Australians and who understand the meaning of love, family and commitment. They stuck together as children, they stick together now, and they have a loving affection and respect for their mum and dad.

We need to rely on our family relationships for love and support through good times and bad times alike. Only a Government with family friendly policies can guarantee security and stability for your family's future.

Our senior residents in Hughes

Our older Australians have spent their adult life contributing to our community as parents, employees, volunteers and business owners, and in many notable cases, serving in Australia's defence forces, both here and overseas.

Our aged community should not be defined by care needs, but should be supported across all aspects of life. After all, older Australians are our national repository of wisom.
